The Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting course is a 3 credit course that is DHS and PA Department of State approved to meet healthcare professional licensure requirements for initial licensure application and license renewal. This course reviews the current Child Protective Services Law under Act 113 and the responsibilities of mandated reporters including what and how to report using the current on-line reporting system. It discusses what happens after a report is made. The course also includes reporting scenarios and updated definitions of perpetrators, human trafficking, signs of abuse and the redefined thresholds of abuse. The most recent update is August 2024. The intended audience includes Physical Therapists, PTAs, Occupational Therapists, COTAs, Speech Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Early Intervention Special Instructors, and other PA Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs licensed healthcare professionals.

How do we meet the needs of patients, practice the business of healthcare, and balance with the demands of fiscal health of healthcare ethically? Practicing ethically is not equal to practicing legally. This course explores the origins of ethics and how ethics developed into practical guidelines for actions in business, supervision, patient care and therapeutic practice. Examples of ethical dilemmas in various situations are explored. Meets licensure renewal requirements.
